Claude Motion Pricing: Which Plans Get It, and Is It Free?

Claude Motion is live on Team and Enterprise Claude plans only. Here's what that means for cost, access, and a likely wider rollout.

Claude Motion Pricing: Which Plans Get It, and Is It Free?

What is Claude Motion and who can use it right now?

Claude Motion is a new feature inside Claude’s Artifacts panel that turns text prompts, screenshots, or website links into short animated videos, things like explainer timelines, product launch clips, or visual summaries of a webpage. At launch, it is only available on Claude’s Team and Enterprise plans. If you’re on a Free, Pro, or Max individual plan, you won’t see the Motion tab yet. Anthropic hasn’t published a standalone price for Motion itself. It’s bundled into the existing Team and Enterprise subscriptions rather than sold as an add-on, so the cost of access is whatever you already pay for those plans.

TL;DR

  • Claude Motion launched exclusively on Team and Enterprise plans, meaning individual Pro and Max subscribers currently can’t access it.
  • There’s no separate price tag for Motion, it’s included as a feature inside the Artifacts panel on plans that already support it, alongside a companion “Dashboard” tab for building data dashboards.
  • The feature is powered by Claude Opus, the same model people have been using manually for weeks to generate similar animated videos with extra prompting steps.
  • Motion outputs are editable code, not locked video files, so you can tweak dates, colors, timing, and images after generation instead of regenerating from scratch.
  • A comment tool lets you click on any element in the video and issue a surgical edit, like changing a color or fixing a fact, without touching the rest of the animation.
  • Wider availability to Free and Pro tiers is expected but not yet confirmed, based on the pattern of Anthropic testing features on business tiers before rolling them out broadly.

How does Claude Motion work inside a Team or Enterprise account?

Once you’re on a qualifying plan, Motion sits in the left sidebar under Artifacts, next to a new Dashboard tab. Clicking Motion opens a chat window with a live preview pane on the right. From there you feed it one of a few input types: a plain text description of what you want (“explain the history of the United States in a five minute video”), a link to a source page like a Wikipedia article, or screenshots of a product or website you want animated.

The system then asks about style, things like visual tone and color palette, before generating the video. In testing shown in demos, a prompt plus a Wikipedia link produced a full unrolling historical timeline in a few minutes, pulling events and dates directly from the source page.

The key technical detail is that Motion videos aren’t rendered as static output. They’re built from code behind the scenes, which is what makes editing possible after the fact. That’s a meaningful difference from typical AI video generators, where a flawed result usually means starting over.

What does editing a Motion video actually look like?

Because each video is generated as underlying code, changes can be made directly in the interface and reflected live in the preview. Demonstrated edits included correcting a factual error (changing a date from 13,000 BC to 14,000 BC), shortening a scene’s duration from 13 seconds to 9, and inserting a new image at a specific point in the timeline.

There’s also a comment feature: clicking a button lets you select any specific element on screen, at any point in the video, and type an instruction like “make this bright red.” The system applies that change to just the selected element rather than regenerating the whole clip. For branding use cases, you can also specify exact colors by referencing a palette, for example screenshotting a company’s website and asking Motion to match its color scheme, or pasting a color table directly into the chat.

Is Claude Motion free, or does it cost extra on top of a plan?

Based on what’s been shown, Motion is not a separate paid product. It’s a capability folded into plans that already carry their own subscription cost, specifically Team and Enterprise. There’s no indication of per-video charges or token-metered pricing distinct from normal Claude usage on those plans. In that sense, if your organization already pays for Team or Enterprise seats, Motion comes at no additional cost.

For everyone else, the practical cost question is different: Motion isn’t available at any price yet if you’re on Free, Pro, or Max, because those tiers don’t expose the feature at all. The alternative, for now, is replicating similar results manually by prompting Claude Opus directly to generate animated content, which is more labor intensive and was the workaround people used before Motion existed as a packaged feature.

Why did Anthropic launch Motion on business tiers first?

Plans first. Then code.

Team and Enterprise plans are generally Anthropic’s testing ground for features aimed at organizations, where usage patterns, feedback, and support load are easier to manage before a wider release. Motion fits that pattern: it’s positioned as a tool for marketing, product launches, internal training content, and presentations, all tasks more common in business and team contexts than individual casual use.

The underlying model, Opus, has already been capable of producing these kinds of animated outputs for weeks through manual prompting. What Motion adds isn’t new model capability so much as a streamlined product wrapper: a dedicated tab, a style-selection flow, and an editing interface that makes the process accessible without custom prompt engineering. Packaging that into a polished feature first for paying business customers, then expanding it, is a common rollout strategy for AI products that start as a power-user trick and get productized later.

When might Claude Motion reach Pro, Max, or Free plans?

Anthropic hasn’t given a confirmed timeline for expanding Motion beyond Team and Enterprise. Given that the feature is explicitly built to make video creation “simple” and cheap to produce, and that Opus itself (the model powering Motion) isn’t restricted to business tiers, it’s reasonable to expect a broader rollout. But reasonable expectation isn’t an announced date, and nothing here should be treated as confirmed until Anthropic says so directly.

If you want access before a wider release, the only confirmed path right now is a Team or Enterprise subscription. If you’re experimenting on a Pro or Max plan, you can still approximate Motion’s results by prompting Opus directly to generate animated explainer content, though you’ll be doing manually what Motion now automates with a guided interface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Claude Motion free to use?

Not as a standalone product. It’s included in Team and Enterprise Claude subscriptions at no extra charge, but it is not available at all on Free, Pro, or Max plans, so there’s no way to access it for free independently of those business tiers right now.

Which Claude plans currently support Motion?

Only Team and Enterprise plans have the Motion tab in the Artifacts sidebar as of its launch. Individual Pro, Max, and Free accounts don’t currently show the feature.

What model powers Claude Motion?

Claude Opus generates the videos. It’s the same model people were already using manually to create similar animated content before Motion packaged the process into a guided interface.

Can I edit a video after Claude Motion generates it?

Yes. Because Motion builds videos from underlying code rather than a fixed rendered file, you can edit text, correct errors, change colors, adjust clip duration, add images, and make targeted element-level edits using the built-in comment tool.

Will Claude Motion come to Pro or Free plans?

There’s no confirmed date. Given the feature’s design toward broad, low-cost video creation and Opus’s availability outside business tiers, a wider rollout seems likely, but Anthropic has not announced specifics.
